Famous for its spectacular stretch of fine white sand, Hyams Beach is a must see when visiting the Shoalhaven region of the NSW South Coast. Hyams Beach is on the south-western shores of the pristine Jervis Bay Marine Park. The calm turquoise waters and white sand have made it one of the most famous beaches in Australia and renowned throughout the world for its beauty. It is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, fishing, bush-walking, photography and stand-up paddle.
Hyams Beach offers beautiful views across Jervis Bay to Point Perpendicular, Bowen Island and the Jervis Bay Marine Park. It is a stunning beach for swimming, snorkeling and long beach walks. Take your camera!
Like all beaches in the Jervis Bay, it is unpatrolled so care must be taken. At the north end of the wide two kilometre shoreline is a rock platform with its own sandy beach (correctly named Hyams Beach) - and a top snorkeling spot. The southern and more famous beach is actually called Seamans Beach.
There is limited parking in the Hyams Beach village and it is often difficult to park in the busy periods. As an alternative, it is recommended you try parking at Greenfield Beach or Blenheim Beach and taking the stunning White Sands Walk to Hyams Beach via Chinamans Beach. This walk allows you to take in the wild flowers and bird life of the area and perhaps see the dolphins swim past. The walk is highly recommended (Some Great Walks Around Jervis Bay). If you take a packed lunch and water with you, it's fun to have a swim at the beaches along the way as well as doing the coastal walk or taking a slightly more inland bush-walk.
