Jervis Bay Bike Riding - Huskisson to Vincentia

Jervis Bay Bike Riding - Huskisson to Vincentia

A great way to explore the beaches and beautiful surrounds of Jervis Bay is by cycling on the shared pathway between Huskisson and Vincentia which meanders along the western shore of Jervis Bay. Jervis Bay is known for its unspoilt, white sand beaches and the glorious clear turquoise colours of the water. On this easy-medium bike ride, you can experience eight beautiful Jervis Bay beaches in one scenic experience. Also, along this lovely bike ride there are a number of well-planned picnic and toilet facilities for everyone’s comfort.

Huskisson to Vincentia Bike Trip

Starting at Voyager Memorial Park near the Huskisson Wharf immediately takes you past the newly enhanced war memorial and also the mouth of Currambene Creek as it enters Jervis Bay. Then travel to White Sands Park which is popular with individuals, groups and families. The park features electric BBQs, lots of open spaces, picnic tables, toilets, swings and two giant climbing ‘castles’. Possibly the best feature along this section of the path is the view of Jervis Bay and especially the lovely Sharknet Beach. This beach is a popular and safe swimming beach.

The shared walkway / cycleway runs from White Sands Park behind the White Sands Caravan Park to Huskisson Beach. Adjacent to the beach is a large reserve with covered picnic tables, electric BBQs, toilets and children’s playground.

The path then runs to Moona Moona Creek Reserve where you can cross over safely to Vincentia via the newly completed widened bike path over the Creek. Moona Moona Creek is a very picturesque spot and a great place to photograph the bird life and other features of the area. You will also find picnic shelters, BBQ's, toilets and a small playground. The creek itself is very pretty with its crystal-clear waters as the tide comes in, shallow water and is a popular spot for SUP and families with young children.

Over the Moona Moona Creek bridge the path runs alongside a three kilometre stretch of Collingwood Beach towards the Vincentia shopping centre. This is another natural beauty along the foreshores of Jervis Bay and you can clearly see many of the features of Jervis Bay from this section of the bike track.

There is another bridge at the end of Collingwood Beach and then you will pass by the Holden Street boat ramp and toilet facilities. The next beach you will come across is the tidal Orion Beach. There is a long section of safe winding pathway that was completed in 2016 that is suspended high up above Orion Beach. From the path, you can see spectacular glimpses of this secluded beach through the trees. At regular intervals there are stairs down to the beach if you want a closer look and to wet your feet.  The next stop is Plantation Point Park, the end of the ride and the entry point to Nelson Beach.

The return bike ride is about 14 kilometres from Voyager Memorial Park to Plantation Point Park.

It is an easy-medium, mostly flat and scenic ride with great facilities including a number of parks along the way. Remember to cross off that you have passed by the following 8 beaches:

  • Myola and Callala Beach at the beginning of your ride then,
  • Shark Net Beach
  • Huskisson Beach
  • Moona Moona Beach and Creek
  • Collingwood Beach
  • Orion Beach
  • Barfleur Beach
  • Nelsons Beach

Completing this ride will make you feel that you have achieved something and seen parts of a very special area - Jervis Bay. So, if winter is slowing you down, hop on your bike and enjoy some of what the spectacular Jervis Bay area has to offer.
